Our children are our future. I can think of little work done in our congregations that is more vital for the future of this world than the efforts we make towards the development and support of our next generation. Like many, I was drawn to Unitarian Universalism once I became a parent, wondering how on earth I could best share the lessons I believed my daughter would need to navigate the challenges of this world. And while I found help in that endeavor, it was the support of community that was the most unexpected and beneficial gift I found once I discovered this faith.
It has always taken a village to raise a child. And while each generation that has come along is tested by it’s own unique trials and tribulations, the future we peer towards today can look especially harrowing sometimes.
I am grateful for the support my family has found within Unitarian Universalism, and I am committed to ensuing this support continues to be available for as many others as possible.
I have always had utmost respect and admiration for the individuals that choose to take on the role of teacher to our children, and my short time serving as a Minister of Religious Exploration has amplified this even more.
There is so much to learn, and so many things competing for our limited attentions these days. Well crafted Religious Exploration is a necessity we cannot afford be left to chance. Our children need our investment in the expansive development of their hearts and minds more today than perhaps ever.
May it be so.
